Back Issue Buyer’s Guide Introduction 3 Introduction… I started out on the path that has reached the amazing milestone of 100 issues of Race Engine Technology in the mid-1980s. That is going back well before the birth of RET , to earlier research projects that gave rise to it. When I took my first step there wasn’t any serious documentation of racing technology on a regular basis. Conventional wisdom had it that this was due to the level of secrecy in racing. While there was an element of truth in that, I soon discovered the real reason was that next to nobody was asking racing engineers intelligent questions about their work. Almost all engineers will talk enthusiastically about what they are doing, so long as the listener appreciates what they are being told. That enthusiasm is the foundation of RET . It has allowed us the privilege of documenting in unprecedented detail the evolution of the race engine since the creation of the publication in 2003. The subject matter embraced by RET is nothing if not diverse. That is emphasised by the information you will find on the following pages, which summaries the content of our first 100 issues. RET represents a hugely informative body of material that I know many readers find invaluable as a reference work. For those of you in possession of the complete back catalogue of RET , this guide should help you track down an article you happen to be looking for. For those of you missing a few issues here and there, rest assured that you can buy back issues through You can also buy our sister publications, the Race Technology Reports and Unmanned Systems Technology , and you will find the content of those to date listed in this booklet too. For me it is a great pleasure to look back over all the issues we have produced. I hope you find it equally rewarding. Here’s to the next 100!
