50 Focus | Embedded computing Being able to update existing system designs using new OpenVPX boards with the latest processor or AI accelerator chips requires a reliable methodology for porting the software. Even adding new processor modules with the latest security technology for new versions of the chosen operation system requires a structured programming approach to ensure safe, reliable and secure code. The requirements of embedded systems for unmanned vehicles are such that verification of the code is an increasingly complex and time-consuming task. The combination of model-based tools with modular boards enables shorter embedded development cycles in both hardware and software, and allows developers to take advantage of the latest security and processing technologies without having to pay an overwhelming penalty.
