Unmanned Systems Technology 017 | AAC HAMR UAV | Autopilots | Airborne surveillance | Primoco 500 two-stroke | Faro ScanBot UGV | Transponders | Intergeo, CUAV Expo and CUAV Show reports

16 Platform one UMEX takes place on February 25-27, 2018, at the ADNEC in Abu Dhabi, UAE. It follows on from the first Unmanned Systems Exhibition and Conference in 2015 that was launched during the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX). The 2018 show will have a broader scope than the launch event, with the inclusion of a simulation and training (SimTEX) exhibition running alongside. UMEX and SimTEX will aim to provide a professional platform for manufacturers to meet operators and establish business relationships while promoting the ecological, environmental, civil and humanitarian benefits of unmanned systems and military simulation and training. The show will be supported by UAE Armed Forces GHQ and attended by regional government delegations, agencies, industry, military and civilian authorities. The event will aim to promote unmanned systems technology and capabilities to a dedicated and focused industry audience. UMEX and SimTEX will be a standalone show in 2018 and will feature an exhibition, conference and live flying demonstrations, providing a platform for discussing the latest developments, trends and innovations in the UAS sector. SimTEX itself will promote cooperation among the armed services, industry, academia and various government agencies in pursuit of improved training and education programmes, identifying common training issues and the development of multi-service programmes. As part of Vision 2030, Abu Dhabi will concentrate on developing its capabilities in the manufacturing and maintenance of civil and military aerospace equipment and parts, defence electronics and other equipment and space apparatus. Taking place between April 10 and 12, at the RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre, it aims to build on the success of the first show, which attracted 55 exhibitors and more than 500 attendees from 46 countries. Organised by Diversified Communications, it is the sister show of Commercial UAV Expo Americas and will again consist of an exhibition and a full conference programme. On display will be the latest technology solutions, products and services from some of the world’s top airframe manufacturers, component suppliers and software developers. Meanwhile, in the conference, large enterprise asset owners and operators from across Europe will discuss the issues they face when implementing UASs – including systems selection and integration; developing enterprise workflows, guidelines and policies; data management and integration; and legal, safety and regulatory considerations. There will be breakout sessions focusing on UAV technology, applications and opportunities applicable to the industries of civil infrastructure, construction, surveying and mapping, mining and aggregates, precision agriculture, law enforcement, emergency response and search and rescue.
